Playing Futsie

Saturday is soccer day for Daniel and Molloy.

Molloy plays in an all-girl league and interestingly, there are no moms at the game; only sparkly-eyed dads. They stand around with their Starbucks in one hand and Blackberries in the other while their little daughters prance around the field.

While at the game I get to hear all the new trendy names that are given to girls these days. Her team roster consists of Sweetie, Cutie, Cutie Pie, Pumpkin, Punkin, Molloytie-Toitie, and of course, Heather.

Molloy only chases the ball for about two minutes then runs off the field to play in the leaves for the balance of the hour, so I guess sports ain't her thing just yet. But pink is certainly her color.

Daniel, on the other hand, has started to mature athletically...a little. His head is really in the game and he chases the ball with vigor, but he doesn't quite get into the middle of the action. The good news is that he really likes it; the bad news is his daddy wants him playing football, not futbol.
