Daniel celebrated his 8th birthday this weekend. We took a few of his minions to the movies to see the 3-D version of Despicable Me. In case you are wondering what 3-D means, it means 3 dollars extra, please. Six children and 2 adults seeing a matinee on a Saturday afternoon will set you back a mere $94...and that assumes you are smuggling in your own drinks and popcorn (despicable me).
The movie was followed by a water balloon fight at the house. The good news was I could not fill the balloons as fast as the kids could deploy them which prevented all out aqua-pandemonium. But kids are good at creative play and when ammunition was in short supply they quickly learned the concept of a firing squad. At first they threatened me with their little balloons to increase the pace of production, but I quickly taught them not to bite the hand that feeds them. Said differently, I had the hose.
Kerrie succeeded once again with creative cake-making with a last-minute rendition of cupcake "minions". She bought a dozen munchkins and iced them onto cupcakes.
One of his friend's slept over and they made late-night s'mores over the fire pit. S'mores are delicious graham cracker sandwiches filled with melted chocolate, gooey marshmellows, and powdery ash.
You may have noticed one of the cupcake minions was shorter than the others and we have yet to solve the case of the missing munchkin. Despicable me.
