Daniel has become recently obsessed with frostbite. I'm not sure where it came from, but he is constantly asking about it and is worried about losing fingers and toes. Today he asked me if eyes can get frostbitten.
I tried to assure him it would be very difficult to get frostbite in Connecticut, and he could only likely get it from climbing the tallest mountains or going to the North or South Poles, and only then if not properly protected against the weather. He seemed comfortable that he would not be going to any of those places soon.
He did, however, think going to South America might help because he heard it is really warm there. It didn't seem like the right time to explain to him that there are tall mountains there, and more importantly, winter during our summer.
But then again this weekend, while suiting up for hockey practice at the skating rink, he asked me if he could get frostbite "in a place like this".
