The Best Part of My Day

The boys are the soundest sleepers I know. They are so exhausted by the end of the day that a tornado blazing through their bedroom could not easily shake them out of bed.

Molloy, on the other hand, is a pretty light sleeper. I need only to open her door and she wakes up. Each and every night she goes to bed she will ask me to wake her up. So at about 10:30 pm we have a nightly ritual where I walk in her room, she instantly rolls over and clumsily tries to get up, I reach into her bed, lift her, and bring her to the toilet. She then tells me she is thirsty and I give her a glass of water, then I pick her back up, we stare at each other in the mirror with smiles, and then I lie her gently back into her bed and cover her up.

Sometimes I try to stay a little longer to watch her get back to sleep, to which she says simply, "Will you go away." (The dream request of any guy at the end of a one-night-stand.)

It is quite simply the best part of my day.

But now she is gone to Oregon for two weeks and I really miss my nightly date with her. Kerrie emailed the picture of her below to keep me happy until she, I mean they, return.

Sweet stuff.
